Me

This is where I am supposed to tell you about myself. What drives me, what inspires me, why I do what I do. Instead I thought I would give you a little glimpse into the real me. I stay up too late, obsess over perfection too much, check e-mail too often, and love to read US Weekly and watch American Idol and Dancing With the Stars (guilty pleasures…now you know mine!) You might laugh at the things that make me happy- lip gloss, a clean house, a newly vacuumed carpet (see previous item), water with lemon at restaurants, gymnastics (used to be a gymnast back in the day…now I am a judge), perfume, frozen yogurt (gotta have it every night!), cameras, lenses, finding a new song that is perfect for a slideshow, anything having to do with photography…and designer jeans. I am also a bit of a grammar freak (when it comes to writing, not necessarily when it comes to speaking). But I am the absolute happiest just being with my husband and our son.

So what does this have to do wtih me as a photographer? Actually, everything! My hope is that this little glimpse I just shared will let you know a little more about me, my style, my passion. My approach is relaxed and with a sense of humor. I feel that it is very important that you choose a photographer whose style and creativity match what it is that you are looking for. I am not your "traditional" photographer and I want my images to reflect that. I encourage my clients to be open to non-traditional styles and to let go of some of the traditional, preconceived ideas of photography (i.e.. the whole family has to be in matchy-matchy clothes with white shirts and khakis, everyone has to be looking at the camera and smiling.) Actually my style tends to lend itself more towards images that I consider "pensive", where the subject is not necessarily smiling but just "being". I want your images to evoke your emotions, to bring you back to that time in your life. I want to create artwork that you won’t want to put away.

You’ll probably find me kicking off my shoes and getting down on the floor with you, capturing shots when you are least aware. Parents should be open to spontaneity and unexpected silliness. I believe the best photographs occur when you forget the photographer is even there… real, honest and unposed. I take my time with each session, snapping away freely, stopping for breaks and snacks when we need to, to ensure that everyone stays happy.

So, browse through my galleries and see if my style of photography is what you are looking for. If you like what you see, feel free to give me a ring.
