Children’s Portraiture at Palma Ceia, Tampa

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the K. family at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club in South Tampa. After we escaped the unplanned sprinklers, we were able to capture some beautiful images of the family and kids.All of these images will be hanging on the K Family’s wall as a gallery wrapped canvas cluster!It was a perfect day for family portraits…..the sun and light were divine! Beautiful kids, too! A photographer’s dream!This is the family canvas that will be part of this gallery collection. I know Janet worked hard on wardrobe- and did a great job! Tampa Children’s Photographer- Meet Little Luca

I will start this diary entry backwards because it is just too precious to not share this story. After I left my studio having finished the D’s family and baby portraits, I walked into my house and told Pete, “I just photographed the most precious little boy ever. He was so adorable!” Cue the jealous 4 years old…at which point my son, Ethan, said to me, “Mommy, I thought you said “I” was the cutest, most adorable little boy ever??!! So now I am not??” Humm…try to explain that one to your son, Mommy! ha! Sophia and Vicky’s Couture Album

One of the most impressive ways to display your custom portraiture is with a couture coffee table album from Andi Diamond Photography. I designed Vicky and Sophia’s 10×10 couture album from their on-location family portrait session in downtown Tampa. I have been photographing Sophia since she was a newborn, actually since her mommy was pregnant with her! It is so beautiful for me to be able to see her grow and become a little girl. On a side note, we have a couple great events coming up. The Tampa Junior League’s Holiday Gift Market starts Friday, November 5 and runs through Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Florida State Fairgrounds. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

1 in 8. That number is scary to me. Actually, that number is alarming to me. And that number is a reality to me. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, according to The American Cancer Society. My high school boyfriend’s mom was the first person I knew to be diagnosed with breast cancer, 2 types of breast cancer at one time. Shortly after I graduated from college, I got the call from my mom telling me that she had been diagnosed. A few years ago, my sister in law was diagnosed- and there have been dozens of other women, friends, co-workers, and clients who I have since learned have been diagnosed with this disease.

Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women. (Centers For Disease Control and Prevention)

I am happy to report that my mom, sister in law, and all of the women in my life who have been diagnosed with breast cancer are doing fabulous, thanks to advances in medical research and the support of such organizations like the American Cancer Society and Susan G Komen, For the Cure.

Tampa Family Portrait Night at the Children’s Cancer Center

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to photograph Tampa families at the Children’s Cancer Center during their sickle cell disease family support night. This was truly such an honor to me, as many of the families had never had a family portrait created. Check out some of the beautiful families I was blessed to photograph:

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects nearly 100,000 people in the United States. It is most common in Africans and African-Americans. Sickle cell disease causes red blood cells to form into a crescent shape, like a sickle. The sickle-shaped red blood cells break apart easily, causing anemia. Sickle red blood cells live only 10-20 days instead of the normal 120 days. The damaged sickle red blood cells also clump together and stick to the walls of blood vessels, blocking blood flow. This can cause severe pain and permanent damage to the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, bones, and spleen. About 2,000 babies are born with sickle cell disease each year in the United States. Oh Those Baby Blues… – Tampa Newborn Portrait Session

You had me at “Hello”, truly Everett had me at “Hello”. Ok, well he does not say hello yet, so he had me with the adorable little noises he made as soon as he came into the studio for his portrait session. Those eyes! I cannot believe how much Everett has changed since his newborn portrait session….but I guess time will do that to a kid!
