Circle of Friends Reunion on St. Petersburg Beach

It is that time of year again- the reunion trip for the Circle of Friends and I cannot wait!  Every year we take children with cancer and blood disorders from all around the United States to Wausau, WI for a fun filled winter trip.  And every other year we have a  reunion trip with the kids from the previous 2 winter trips.  This year it will be on St. Petersburg Beach.  Pete and I are honored to be a part of this amazing organization for the past 10 years.  (I am especially proud of Pete who helped to organized the entire trip this summer!)  The kids are beyond amazing and the experience for the adults may be even more rewarding than for the kids.  Check out my diary for frequent updates as I am also the camp’s photographer.  If you would like to support the Foundation, please contact us at 813-601-3825 or peterb@samter.com.  You can follow us on Facebook, too.

The studio will be closed Wednesday through Sunday.  Feel free to shoot me an email and I will try my best to be in touch prior to next week.  :)

Graham’s Album Wins 2nd Place

Super excited to share this very special album.  I have had the opportunity to capture the births of one of my beloved clients, Melissa.  Birth photography is such a powerful, intimate, and special event that I am blessed to photograph.  It is a time that goes by in such a blur.  I really wish I would have had a photographer capture Ethan’s birth for us (instead I had my mom, gotta love her and her out of focus images of Ethan!  She spent a large amount of time in the bathroom crying- thought she will disagree with me on that one.  Fortunately, she is not too down with technology and does not even know what a blog is- much less actually read mine so I am probably pretty safe in posting that…but just in case- LOVE you. Mom!).  I am honored to have been able to capture the birth of both of Melissa’s babies.  Here is the album from Graham’s birth.  It won second place in the album print competition last night at the Tampa Area Professional Photographers Association (TAPPA) meeting.  Times flies so fast…we actually just had Graham’s 1 year portrait session.

On a side note, if you are interested in birth photography and live in Tampa Bay, please contact me asap as I accept a very limited number of birth photography assignments as I am on-call 24-7 for the mommy-to-be.

Ray and Nadiah’s Engagement Album- FIRST PLACE!

Once a month I attend the Professional Photographers of America’s local guild, the Tampa Area Professional Photographers Association (TAPPA).  Our guild consists of over 150 local Tampa Bay photographers coming together for education, camaraderie, and print competition.  Tonight I entered Ray and Nadiah’s engagement album into the competition.   Just before they handed out the awards, I looked over at the table of albums that did not place and swore I saw mine.  My heart sank a little as I was hoping place third and quite honestly, I am my own worst critic.  I am thrilled to say, the album took FIRST place!  Such an honor as the entries are voted on by my peers.  Click on the arrow to view a slideshow of their album.

With such a beautiful couple, I cannot wait to design their next album after their wedding in July!  :)
