Maya became a Bat Mitzvah this Saturday at Schaarai Zedek in Tampa. In the jewish religion, when a girl reaches 13-years-old she becomes a “bat mitzvah” and is recognized by Jewish tradition as having the same rights as an adult. She is now morally and ethically responsible for her decisions and actions. ”Bat Mitzvah” also refers to a religious ceremony that accompanies a girl becoming a Bat Mitzvah. Often a celebratory party will follow the ceremony. Which indeed happened! With candy, dancing, and selfies…this party was a blast!
I have been photographing her family for many years now, it was so exciting to see this major milestone in her life. She led a beautiful service at Schaarai Zedek; I know her family is so proud.
