Saying Goodbye to my Grandma…

Two weeks ago we went to South Florida for the national championship game.  We had dinner with my grandma and then spent the following day with her.  All seemed great- as great as things can be when you are 88.  Then she fell.  Whenever an older person falls, I know it is usually never good.  But I really thought this would just be a minor bump in the road.  I did not expect that my last visit with my grandma, would be my last visit with my grandma ever.  I did get to see her in the hospital.  I would like to think that she knew I was there.  But I would rather remember our happy times together.  I will always know how much my grandma loved me, how I was the apple of her eye, and how my son brought her so much joy.  She was always bragging about me.  She had pictures of me, Pete, and Ethan all over her house.  She was my last living grandparent.  I am glad we captured a few snap shots during my last visit. Thanks so much to my wonderful husband, family, and friends for all your support.  Thanks to my great clients for your patience.  And thanks to my Grandma for everything you have ever done for me- the challah french toast (the best!), all my care packages in collage, all our games of rummy cue.  I will remember everything fondly and it is with a very sad and heavy heart that I say………goodbye……

Happy Inauguration Day!

What a super exciting day in American history!  Even my two year old had his eyes glued to the TV saying “Mommy, it is Ba Wok A Baba”- you would have to hear him say it…but trust me- it is the cutest thing ever!  God bless America and our new president!

Be Your Art….

Yep, that is my “tag line” and I truly believe in it.  We all decorate our homes, usually with artwork that is created by someone else of something other than our loved ones.  But I feel like “we” should be our own artwork- our families, our children, our memories, our moments.  One of my favorite ways to decorate a client’s home is with gallery wrapped canvases.  I do love my custom frames but there is just something uber special about canvases.   They are absolutely beautiful, timeless, and classic (and do not need to be framed!).

John and Stacey S. sent me these pictures today that they took of their canvas wall.  (Thanks so much for sending me these John and Stacey- I love seeing my work in my clients’ homes! :) ) I wanted to share this with the rest of you to help you get a visual of what a gallery wrapped canvas wall can look like.  These canvases are all custom sizes, designed to best fit the crop of the portraits as well as the wall space that we were working with.  The sizes are 24×24, 14×21, and 14×10.I also wanted to share Stacey’s phone call after John hung the canvases…it gave me warm fuzzies!

“OMG!  I can’t stop staring at these canvases on my wall.  I can’t believe what a difference it makes in my home.  It is amazing; it certainly is a piece of art and I am so thrilled.  They are so great!  I LOVE, LOVE them!  Thanks again!”  Thanks Stacey- made my day!

Sweet Ava!

What an absolute doll is little Miss Ava?!  A beautiful little peanut!  Ava’s mommy, Susan, and I worked together at Shriners Hospitals for Children (which if you don’t know about Shriners, click here to read up on all the amazing things they do for children with orthopedic needs…and at no cost!)  Ava is 6 months old and all girl! Susan walked in proudly exclaiming to me how much Ava loves being in front of the camera; she loves cute hats and dresses, she smiles all the time…  Yippee, I thought to myself!  Well, I should have know.  (Not too sure about you other photographers out there, but that is the kiss of death for me! ha!)   I swear Ava’s teeth started to break through the minute we walked into my studio…ha!  But, you would never know that looking at some of the beauties we captured! But I did have to post one just to make Ava’s mommy laugh…(I think a tooth popped through right at this moment! ha!!)So great to meet Ava and to see you again, Susan!  I look forward to watching her grow! :) A
